Thanks for the responses. But the question was not how or whether to
convert the MPEG video format files. I'm handed a project with dozens
of MPEG files to assemble into this project. I am well aware of how
much they suck and all that.
Despite that fact, I have had no problem creating what the client
wanted using the MPEGs they supplied. EXCEPT on my laptop. This is the
problem I am trying solve.
Incidentally, Virtual Dub won't convert them - I get an error about
"no frames contained in file." I might try WMM and see what that does.
