Subject: Re: [AP] Mini DV Sound in Premiere

No the information below is incorrect.

Keith has two audio channels -- EACH with their own left and right. The
XL-1 has two audio inputs, which record to two different, and
independent stereo channels. The DV spec allows for recording of two
channels at 32Khz 12bit. WHen you record at 48Khz 16bit, the DV spec
only allows for one stereo channel.

Put another way, in 32Khz 12bit mode you get this:

channel 1 left
channel 1 right
channel 2 left
channel 2 right

When you record at 48Khz 16bit, you get this:
Channel 1 left
channel 1 right

Premiere only captures the first stereo channel, regardless of which
audio mode you record in. You need another software application to
capture the second audio channel.

I think we are all getting confused ;)

Keith has two audio channels (left and right) that was recorded, one
channel (left) was with boom mic and the right channel is with wireless
mic. So, he can only get one audio out instead of both... Filling one
channel with the other would obviously 'cover' up the other channel's
audio...

So, since I don't understand why you cann't hear the other channel,
perhaps you can do is capture the audio again, and then do the 'fill
right' or 'fill left' thing and it might work...

If you have time and you want to do this, put the avi file on timeline
and export about 30 seconds of it where you know there's sound and let
me take a peak by emailing it to me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
