I asked the same question about one month ago and I came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it. First of all the "scribers" we are looking at now are scribes at 1x. That means it actually uses aprox 30 minutes for one dvd/cd!! And to add to that; they are all black/white. There are rumours around that the next generation scribers will manage color, but taking into consideration that you'll have to layer the colors inside the disc and then manipulate with laser it sounds too expensive worthwile...
The reason for me investigating LightScribe is that I do not like the sticker-label anymore. I was starting to fear that the stickers were going to come of in a couple of years.. Imaging a lot of angry customers with your stupid sticker solution inside their carstereo or future HD/BlueRay DVD player... Ish... So I went out and bought myself Canon IP Pixma 4200. It prints directly onto the disc, it's fast and reliable. The print isn't water-resistant though, but it's a fair trade-in. Hope you'll have use for my comments:) Sune, norway On Thu, 22 Sep 2005 21:37:04 -0000 "Frank" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I just heard about this new thing called "lightscribe" > (lightscribe.com) that lets you burn graphics onto a disc, in the > same drive that you use to burn the content onto the disc with..
