I asked the same question about one month ago and I came to the
conclusion that it wasn't worth it. First of all the "scribers" we are
looking at now are scribes at 1x. That means it actually uses aprox 30
minutes for one dvd/cd!! And to add to that; they are all black/white.
There are rumours around that the next generation scribers will manage
color, but taking into consideration that you'll have to layer the
colors inside the disc and then manipulate with laser it sounds too
expensive worthwile...

The reason for me investigating LightScribe is that I do not like the
sticker-label anymore. I was starting to fear that the stickers were
going to come of in a couple of years.. Imaging a lot of angry
customers with your stupid sticker solution inside their carstereo or
future HD/BlueRay DVD player... Ish...

So I went out and bought myself Canon IP Pixma 4200. It prints directly
onto the disc, it's fast and reliable. The print isn't water-resistant
though, but it's a fair trade-in.
