I agree with Mark. I've got a Pioneer DVR-630H for my business and it really gets thing done. It has a 250GB HD and it will burn 2HR video in less than 5 minutes. It saves me loads of hours if I do not need to adjust anything with Premiere. It has plenty of inputs (including DV IN) and I've hooked up a VHS, Hi8 and a MiniDV camera if needed. You can even control the camera through the DVD recorder with the remote. I use it daily for converting footage to DVD.
I love it and can recommend it, it's saving me HOURS on simple projects. Let me know if you have any questions. - www.boxmod.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark McLaughlin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 08, 2006 2:35 PM Subject: RE: [AP] Firewire in to DVD > Hi Julian > > In my experience a IEEE 1394 input will beat alternates. > > Brand name of item would be of interest. > > If your delivery device offers firewire out port, than yes > of course firewire in is optimum for direct to DVD hardware device. > > If you must go S-video, not the end of the world. > > But I'd always take the Firewire option whenever available. > > I use such devices daily for content that does not require, > (read, client budget will not pay for) computer massage of the project. > > This allows daily thru-put while keeping computer asset running > on jobs that require more time and finesse re menuing and > customization = more cost. > > Bottom line is real time DVD burning/authoring beats hours of > computer noodling handily, 'Unless' budget covers that time input. > > Also valid to complete project in computer and send out as DV > feed to real time device. > > What do others think? > > > > HTH > > > > Cheers > > Mark McLaughlin > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > Best Color Video Production DVD Website Design > mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Ph. 250-744-4111 Fx. > www.bestcolorvideo.com/ 1021 Ridgeway Place, Victoria BC. > " We Produce Videos & Internet Websites for YOUR Business " > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > > > >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Julian Baldwin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >> Sent: January 8, 2006 4:36 AM >> To: [email protected] >> Subject: [AP] Firewire in to DVD >> >> I am contemplating the purchase of a stand-alone DVD recorder >> and one of the possible alternatives has a 'DV in' >> (Firewire) input in addition to the normal composite and >> S-video inputs. >> Does anyone in this group have experience of DVD recorders >> with 'DV in' and can you tell me whether the quality of >> recording through the 'DV in' socket is NOTICABLY better (or >> worse!) than via the S-Video socket. >> >> Julian >> Bristol, England >> >> >> >> >> Yahoo!
