Scene detect will detect anytime the camera was even paused. (Not just
physically turned off and on.) Would this explain the 41 scenes? Also, the
tape button tells scene detect to capture the entire tape instead of in/out
range that you've specified.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [AP] Too Many Scenes Created During Scene Detect

  Hi,

I tried capturing a 1 hour tape using the automatic scene detect
feature. There were only 10 actual scenese on the tape (10 times
turning the DV camera on and off) but APP created 41 scenes? Does
anyone know what it created extra scenes? In some scenese there were
just 2 people talking and it split up a single conversation like 3-4
  times.

I was using "scene detect" and I hit the "tape" button in the
capture window. Does anyone know what the difference is between the
"tape" button and the "in/out" buttons? THANKS!!!!!!
