Dear Jeff,
Thank you so much for the answer. I think I'll follow your advice. Questions:
how does the mini-DV camera connect to the PC? USB port? I mean, should I have
any special hardware for connection? The capture process is a real time
process? 1 hour of film = 1 hour of capture process?
I have a real problem about AVI format. Yes, I should be supposed to edit not
only in AVI format, but whenever I try to do so e.g mpeg, the video tilts and
repeats itself in the monitor window (while the cursor goes on) and the audio
gets all mixed up and does not synchro with the video anymore. Is this normal?
I'm using Premiere Pro 1.5. Windows XP Pro AMD 3000 mghz processor, 2 GB RAM.
Thank you very much!
Leonel.

Leonel,
You don't have to ALWAYS edit in AVI format, but you'll have fewer headaches
if you do. Instead of getting a DVD camcorder, try getting a mini-DV camera.
These record to tapes, instead of DVD discs. The downside is, you can't pop
them in a DVD player. However, the upside is that you can transfer directly
to Premiere, and the video is saved in the AVI format. So no conversion is
necessary, and your camera will be supported by Premiere. This is not true of
DVD recording cameras.

Subject: [AP] Best Camcorder for Premiere
Dear everybody,
I am thinking of buying a camcorder and I would prefer to buy the correct
one. I like to edit all my shots on Premiere, so which one should I buy?
I don't wanna spend hours capturing from the camera to the PC, and then
converting all mpeg to avi so I can edit it on the Adobe Premiere. I don't
know if it is possible not to do that, I was told that the DVD camcores
record mpeg files, so it is easy to see directly what you just shot on your
DVD player, but if you wanna edit it (I always wanna do that) you have to
convert everything to avi .
So, am I right and have to edit always in AVI?
And is there any camcorder that can record in AVI or something like that?
Thank you in advance and this group is cool! I can't stop learning from you!
Leonel Dolara.
