Another item to concern your self with is how much computer time am I willing
to give up to do the (I would guess you will put this all on DVD?) actual
MPEG-2 conversion?
Depending on how powerful your PC is, what codec's you use and so on, this can
be quite cpu intensive.
Just another option for you to look at: I was walking through WalMart some
time ago and on their discouted electronics shelves I came across a
"DVDXpressDX2" box for sale ($55.00!)
.
This allows you to directly input a composite or "S" video analog signal into
the box and output MPEG-2 DVD NTSC or PAL quality file, but the most important
part of this whole thing is that it's all done in the box, not in your CPU!
Bottom line is if you have other CPU intensive things to do, why tie up your
CPU?
I love it because I can be inputing footage directly to MPEG-2 while I am
editing other files in Adobe!
Just a thought.
