i think that in this kind of conversion, (4:3 to 16:9) you have three options 
with different results:
1 - change the horizontal scale, what results in a fat appearance
2 - change the total scale of the video, which results in a loss of quality on 
image...
3 - don't change the video scale, maintaining two vertical black bands on the 
side of the video.
choose your best..

Hi
Does anyone know of the existence of a plug in (for prem or ae) that
will take footage filmed (years ago) in 4:3 and "smart convert" to
16:9, like my panasonic (and probably countless others) widescreen TV
does (i.e. stretches just the edges, leaving the centre alone).
I've stretched the whole frame by changing the horizonatal scale, but
this makes everything "fat".
