IT WORKED!!!

However, only footage recorded in standard def is capable of showing 
up. Just changing the menu over to DV helped let the software 
recognized the camera. 

Sort of bummer that this version of Pre Pro couldn't 
handle "downgrading" the res to allow for HDV clips to be 
automatically converted to Standard def.

I'm guessing that you are using CS3?

And question....is the standard def in this HV30 far superior to the 
old HI8 TRV 530 I have?
