Separate drives, not just different partitions or volumes on the same drive, 
which provides no performance benefit.

The OS's swap file and AP's scratch disk (temporary work) should not be on the 
same physical drive.

AP's output should not go to the same drive as its scratch disk.

I dunno if it makes much difference if the source files and scratch or source 
and OS swap are on the same drive.
