That  generally works but the problem with it is that you sometimes will 
get
the odd frames with pixelation (look carefully!!!).
You should therefore demux (demultiplex) the clip.
Before I got CS4 I used EVOdemux but there are a number of other programs.
(Just google "demux vob" )

In CS4 and now CS5 all you do is copy the VOB file to the HDD and use it 
as is
in Premiere - some progress.:-)
