The purpose of RAID0 is speed. It Works! I've used RAID0 for years without
incident. I will admit, I'm good about taking regular images of my C drive,
and ALL of my data is on a separate HDD (which is always backed up as well).
The downside I saw with RAID0 is now you have this huge storage space on the
same physical components ... so, you end up storing your data + projects +
scratch folders on the same HDDs >>> and that SLOWS down your PC.

I recently reconfigured my PC. The C drive is an OCZ Vertex2 90G SSD drive.
I have two other data HDD's which are partitioned. I store project data on
the 1st data drive, scratch/temp/output files on the 2nd HDD (then I back up
each HDD the others' 2nd partition). The SSD + using separate HDDs for data
storage; well, THAT's what speeds up a PC.

If you're not ready for a SSD, just use separate data drives. You Will
notice a difference!

I'm using an Intel i940 chip on a Nvidia mainboard, 12G ram, and a GTX video
card that supports GPU acceleration ... fast, fast, fast.
