When you play an audio clip from the beginning (left) the counter should
show all zeros
and start counting for as long as you play and definitely not stop at
one minute.
As far as I know there is no setting do change that.
If I have problems like that I usually restart the program. If that does
not help I would
re-boot and if that does not work I would probably re-install the program.
That is normally faster than spending hours trying to find the problem
and most of the
times it helps.
