Maybe file avi format is not compatible with adobe premiere 3 & 4. For example mts video, you cannot put in adobe premiere 3, 5 & 6 but it is compatible with adobe premiere 4. in my computer, i installed premiere cs 4 & 6. for your solution, you can convert avi file to another video file format, ex. mov. maybe your avi file is formated HD, (Avi High defenition).
