Has anyone on the list had any luck viewing footage in the field on a
tablet computer? I'm looking for something that will accept AVCHD
files from my Canon XA10 and display them in the highest resolution
possible on the screen.

I used to haul a substantial laptop around with me with Premiere
installed, but I'm often way out in the south Pacific with a very
limited baggage allowance and would prefer something very light. I'm
looking for:

- a tablet computer with high enough resolution to show 1920x1080p video
- an SD card slot or plug-in reader for the tablet that can read the
big SDXC cards
- an app for the tablet that will play back AVCHD video files
- a tablet processor with enough oomph not to stutter with 30fps
1080p footage playback

I have an iPad2 at home that accepts SD cards with a small accessory,
but it will not read the .mts files that my camera shoots. Trying to
import via iTunes is downright hostile. I tried the same with a
friend's gen 3 iPad and was not able to play back files there either.

No luck either with a Samsung Galaxy tab, but that was a while ago.

Are the new crop of tablets any better for high-def video playback?

Thanks,

Mike Boom
