It depends on your library.  If you are using an IBM tape library you probably have 
one of several utilities such as "tapeutil" or another.  These utilities can access 
the library and give you an inventory separately from what *SM says.

Also if you have a chart of the slots in your library and have viewing ports, then 
then just use a flashlight and look through to find them.  Otherwise you have to 
interrupt things and open library to find out.

Hi,
        Received about 10 messages
"cannot read barcode in slot #90" and
9 other tape slots.

Does anyone know how to determine
what tape is in slot number 90.

Seems "q libvol" only lists the tapes
that it know about.
