We had a E-tape get stuck in a drive. The IBM CE showed up to work on it. After a while he came walking up to our desks holding the cartridge in one hand and yards of mangled tape in his other hand. He showed us a spot on the tape - there was a splice, and a very bad splice at that (ends were not lined up very well).
