It seems that teh syntax should be :

cleanup archdir nodename,showstats F=D Wait=Yes

i had the same problems as yourself then got the correct syntax from my
software vendor.

TSM 4.1.1.0 os390

Subject: Clean Archdirectories

Hello,

can anybody tell me how I get rid off duplicate archive directory's.
I wanted to use the clean archdir command, but I think i don't use the right
syntax.
When I enter the command on the server;
CLEAN ARCHDIR nodename
then I get ONE OR MORE PARAMATERS ARE MISSING.

What is the right syntax????
