This is the amount of bytes transferred, not the amount of data backed up. They are 2 different animals. I had this issue with one of my Notes administrators. I was telling him that his main Notes server was backing up 50GB/night, but his filespace only showed 24GB used. This number of bytes transferred includes the retries. When I went in and looked at the DSMSCHED.LOG file with VERBOSE coded, I saw all kinds of retries because the file was changing. Had to eat crow on that one! :-)

Importance: High Hi Tsm'ers Here is my problem. by looking at below statistics, i suppose 44.81 GB is backedup to TSM server. 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4952I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects inspected: 1,956 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4954I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects backed up: 1,955 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4958I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects updated: 0 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4960I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects rebound: 0 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4957I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects deleted: 0 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4970I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects expired: 0 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4959I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of objects failed: 0 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4961I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Total number of bytes transferred: 44.81 GB 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4963I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Data transfer time: 4,346.26 sec 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4966I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Network data transfer rate: 10,811.49 KB/sec 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4967I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Aggregate data transfer rate: 5,085.20 KB/sec 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4968I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Objects compressed by: 0% 11/20/01 13:34:03 ANE4964I (Session: 2190, Node: ADSMSRV1.SG.IBM.COM) Elapsed processing time: 02:34:00 But, when i look at my storage pool statistics , it surprised me. How my storage pool occupation is too low that the above. query to storage pool says only 13.5 % is occupied in 80GB space. (13.5% may also include other nodes data in it.) What is happening with TSM. or Is any thing wrong in my calculation. here is the output of query storage pool. No migration has happend while backingup the above node. tsm: ADSMSRV1>q stg Storage Device Estimated Pct Pct High Low Next Pool Name Class Name Capacity Util Migr Mig Mig Storage (MB) Pct Pct Pool ----------- ---------- ---------- ----- ----- ---- --- ----------- 3575_AFS 3575CLASS 0.0 0.0 0.0 90 70 3575_ARCH 3575CLASS 485,000.0 1.0 2.1 90 70 3575_BKUP 3575CLASS 1,523,815. 12.1 12.4 90 70 0 DISK_AFS DISK 60,000.0 0.0 0.0 0 0 3575_AFS DISK_ARCH DISK 60,000.0 1.5 1.5 70 50 3575_ARCH DISK_BKUP DISK 80,000.0 13.5 13.5 70 50 3575_BKUP Can anybody help in what is happening here????? your help in this regard is highly appriciated.
