One thing I noticed in your post is that you are running the 4.2 client on a Netware 4.11 server. It is my understanding that the 4.2.x client only runs on Netware 4.2 & up. This is from the readme:
Software Requirements --------------------- - Tivoli Storage Manager for NetWare Backup-Archive, API and Web Client: - Novell NetWare 4.20, 5.10 I have not seen this problem with my Netware 5.1 servers running SP2 or 3. But I do seem to have a problem with backup performance problems with my largest 4.11 SP9 server. But I have enough other problems backing up my Netware 5.1 servers.... ------------------------------------ Bruce Kamp Network Analyst II Memorial Healthcare System P: (954) 987-2020 x6008 E: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------ -----Original Message----- From: Jason Mount [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 6:28 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: NetWare and High Processor Utilization I have noticed that when TSM starts backing up, that the processor(s) will max out on my NetWare servers (both 5.1 SP3 and 4.11 SP9). Are there any setting that can reduce the processor utilization? Maybe something in the DSM.OPT file? Some of these are even dual processor and they still get up there (80-90%). It only last during the backup (1/2 to 1 hour) but I cannot afford the performance hit with people on the server. My configuration is TSM server is AIX with TSM version 4.2.1 and my NW client is 4.2.1.0. The DSM.OPT file has no special settings in it (default). Also I have increased the server parameters quit a bit (cache buffers and packet buffers). Any help is appreciated.
