Is anyone else running several SAP instances on one machine, and using TDP for R/3? If so, you may be interested in the following problem when upgrading:
TDP for R/3 upgrade from 3.2.0.4 to 3.2.0.8. Running on AIX 4.3.3. There is a central process called 'prole', used by all running TDP processes. This causes 2 problems when upgrading - Installing the new level software causes the running prole to be stopped, which in turn interrupts any running backups (and possibly restores) - The backup module (backint) and prole must be upgraded at the same time. Hence when you upgrade one instance, prole gets upgraded, so you can't run the other instances until you've upgraded them too. Thus, to test a new version of TDP you have to have a separate test machine, not just a test SAP instance. We've opened a DCR (# MR051 4023414) to be able to run separate backint/prole combinations on a single machine. If anyone else thinks this is a problem, you can try to add your vote to this DCR, or create a new one and refer to ours if that's what Tivoli wants. Richard Foster Norsk Hydro asa
