We have asked this same question to Tivoli support and can not get a good
answer. If you are concerned about the differences in the number of files,
as well you should, you should also be concerned about the amount of space
in both. If you have a the basic TSM setup of a primary diskpool, a primary
tapepool and a copypool then the tape and copy pool should match after a
migration is done of the diskpool allowing that no activity was done to the
diskpool directly after the migration.

To find the discrepancy goes MUCH deeper, per Tivoli level 2 support 3
different commands per file has to be ran to find the bit ID, super bit,
tape and which pools the file is in. Imagine this process to verify all
million plus files on your system, with no automation.

We have spent a great deal of time working this problem, if I am incorrect
or am looking at this the wrong way, someone please correct me.

Thanks,
Mark B.

Subject: query occupancy - no of files in primary/copy storage pool

Hi

I've noticed a discrepancy in the "number of files" value for a primary and
copy storage pool. The "number of files" value in the copy storage pool is
much lower than for the primary. The total space occupied, however, is
basically the same in both. Why the differing values for "number of files"
values then?

Thanks

Maria
