You will need to clarify: Are you asking about how much data is written by 1 client to a volume. If so, this is a very expensive select of the contents table.
If you are looking for how much data is on a volume, a q volume will do that. As far as averages, I would recommend you look at the average written to a volume in a storage pool. That way you can model how many tapes it takes for your environment. The average data backed up on a daily basis is best obtained from the summary table, but the summary table contents are broken right now so the values are skewed. I presume you want the average per day for all clients. However, the backup storage pool statistics may give you what you want. The summary table has backup storage pool information that will tell you how much data was copied to a copy pool. The real question is what are you trying to portray with this information? Paul D. I know I can use 'q content volumename' , but that only gives me filenames. I would like to know how much data is on a volume, average amount of data written to a volume, and the average amount of data being backed up on a daily basis. -regards, Kane
