Thomas, Have you thought about using the nohup command?
nohup dsmc sched > /dev/null 2>&1 < /dev/null & I have a file called "tsmsched" with the above command. I the inittab have something like this: tsm::once:/usr/bin/tsmsched I can't remember but with AIX 4.3 or 4.2 there was an issue with the nohup command. You have to put the command in a file and then execute the file like a script to get the nohup to work. That is why my setup is the way it is.
