Bruce, The *first* time you run a backup after enabling the journal service, you will still see a regular full incremental backup performed. This is done to synchronize the journal database with the TSM server database. Thereafter the backups should use the journaled backup method, unless the journal db and server db become out of sync (for more info, see the PreserveDbOnExit option in the client manual appendix on configuring the journal service).
How large are the journal db files (named like *jdb*)? Also, what antivirus program are you running? See the README file that accompanies the client for information and recommended settings that may be pertinent; see the bullet that starts with this line: - Known problems with anti-virus software While the README file talks about NAV, other antivirus products may behave in a similar fashion. I installed it using the setup wizard & only selected this one file system.
