Shannon,

"Successfully"? Reminds me of the line from "Stripes" where, when asked
by an Army recruiter if they'd ever been convicted of a felony, one of the
guys responds "*Convicted*?"

I bit the bullet and upgraded from 4.2.3.0 to 5.1.6.0 this past weekend.
We're running z/OS 1.2.

I went directly to 5.1.6.0 (no intervening 5.1.5.x or anything else) and I
know of no problems that resulted. (I had done a last-minute 'cleanup
backupgroups' command just before shutting down 4.2.3.0, in order to make
sure things were as clean as I could get them before the db
upgrade...nothing was found that needed cleaning, since I'd done that
cleanup immediately after upgrading from 4.2.2.10 to 4.2.3.0 about 6 weeks
ago.)

I can say that as far as I can tell, things are no worse here on 5.1.6.0
than they were on 4.2.3.0. So far. And that's not saying much. I've got
open problems on 0C4 abends and CPU loops that are occurring now but that
were also occurring at 4.2.3.0.

Whether you consider this as running on 5.1.6.0 "successfully", I leave to
you to decide. Not very confidence-inspriring, I know, but as I say, at
least things don't seem to be any *worse* than they were. I'm keeping my
fingers crossed.

Regards,
Bill
