Hi Bert, >But how do I get a list of old tapes to take out?
I assume you mean copypool tapes that went checked out and stored offsite ... I don't know if you're using TSM's DRM feature, but case of an affirmative response, you should be in a position to issue "q drm wherestate=vaultretrive", to get the list of the volumes lying in your safe and having no more valid data. Before checkin them again in the library as scratch tapes, don't forget to issue "move drm * wherestate=vaultretrive tostate=onsiteretrive" to update TSM DB/volhist, letting them know those tapes are now empty. If unfortunately you do not have DRM licensed on the server, it gets a little bit more complicated, and, as I'm not used to those "manual" procedures, I prefer letting someone more experienced explain you how to do it (if not allready done, try to issue "h checkin libv", "h checkout libv" and "h q volhist" on TSM command line, could be usefull )... And last thing : if you check your tapes in the library, specifying "status=pri" they'll never appear as scratch volumes ! Hope it helped ! Cheers.
