This is of interest to us also. But all our hardware guy has found is this:

>From the TSM 5.2 Server README:

**************************************************************************** **** * Linux - External Library Manger Support * **************************************************************************** ****

The External Library Manger interface (exit) is not currently supported on any of the Tivoli Storage Manager Servers for Linux. This support will be available in a future level.

Much more cryptic than enlightening.

My co-workers and I have been researching the possibility of migrating
our TSM server from OS/390 to mainframe Linux. We have found a number
of IBM conference presentations indicating that the mainframe Linux
TSM server supports only tape drives attached by means of the Fibre
Channel Protocol. On the face of it, this implies that ESCON-attached
3590 drives will not be supported. Is this a correct interpretation
of IBM's statements on device support?
