Bill, Most likely the problem is due to the fact that your target machine is not configured correctly - that is, from a DP for Oracle point of view. Generally, if you configure your target machine exactly as your source the duplicate command should work without a hitch. My method for doing this is to copy all the options files for DP Oracle (dsm.opt, dsm.sys, tdpo.opt) from the source machine to the target machine.
The common misconception is that the duplicate command uses the configuration setting from the source machine when in fact it comes from the target machine. Hope this helps.
