do you know how I can write a script, I have never scripted before ..

I want to have a script that checks the recovery log if it's 75% full or not ... and
then ... it pauses all processes and then ... it does an incremental db backup ... how
can I do this .. ?

looks like you have a bad DB backup tape.

Clean the heads and try it again. If it fails, go back to the previous backup tape.

Shukie,

You probably don't want to hear this, but this is why you should always have that
500MB log file ready to be allocated, and immediatly deallocate it when the condition
has beed cleared.

I believe that you are stuck with a database restore to point of time of your last DB
backup. This is an issue, but in most cases it is not too bad. Once you get back up
and running, just run your backups again, and in general they will pick up whatever
they are missing.

Once you are back on level ground, have a look at the facilty to trigger DB backups
automatically when the log gets above a given percentage full.

Regards and commisserations

Hi there

I have reached my maximum extention of recovery log of 13 gb ... now I can't even
extend it so I can't log in and do a database back up ... can someone tell me how to
delete some of the recovery log ... is there any other way ?

Shukrie
