Ameerul, You should make sure that the drives maps are exact. E.g. when drive rmt1 on clientA maps to rmt3 on tsmsrv you should make sure that whne you define the tape path for clientA that you use the correct drive within TSM (that is the DRIVE for rmt3), the physical device is however /dev/rmt1 (the device on clientA).
Hope this helps. If not please mail the output of lscfg -vl rmt1 (from clientA) and lscfg -vl rmt3 (from tsmsrv) and the output of q path f=d. Richard. Can't use rmt3 & rmt4 for SAN backup. Hi All, I have this scenario on the TSM server: -TSM Svr 5.2.3 -TSM Client 5.2.2 -TSM SAN 5.2.2 -Tape library 3584 LTO with 4 drives I have another clientA with SAN attached. It can see (lsdev -Cc) the 3rd and 4 th drive of the 3584. 1st and 2nd is by another clientB. For clientB, after configuring the storage agent and test the backup, it manage to backup nicely thru LAN-free with no error. For clientA, after configuring, tested the backup, it gives error=46 on the dsmsta, could not mount tape. But the Tsm serverconsole, a drive has been mounted(different drive). Why is this? For client B,on the tsm server i configured the path for drive to /dev/rmt1 and /dev/rmt2 same as clientA since that is what is seen using lsdev -Cc tape for ClientA and ClientB. The difference for both client is that for clientB rmt1 on clientB maps excatly to the tsmsvr rmt1. This is check with lscfg -vl rmt1. But for clientA rmt1 maps to rmt3 of tsmsvr. The rmt is configured that way to separate the load of backups for clientA and clientB on to the tape drives. Pls help me to resolve this. Thanks and best regards Ameerul Madzali __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - 50x more storage than other providers! http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail
