I had this same problem at 5.2.2.0 on AIX. After upgrading to 5.2.2.3 it went away.

Using the GUI client I selected Utilities/Delete Archive selected an archive. It has been 1hour 40 min and it has only deleted 5,600 files. Is this normal? Are there parameters I could look at?
