In my environment we have a production database size of 550Gb which takes 3hrs for online backup to tape storage pools which is fine for me. When I tried for offline backup on same database it is taking 7hrs which is technically wrong since offline backups should take less time. I am not using any backup parameters for offline backup and my backup command looks like " backup db xyz use tsm" .
My questions... Do you guys use any kind of offline backup parameters like buffer size..etc ? On what factored offline backup depends? Is there any thing we have to change in DB2/TSM parameters? Is it going to improve if I use diskpool first and then tapepools.If yes, how much diskpool size it requires for 550GB and is there any rules we can look for before create disk pools.
