Hi to all TSMers, We back up our Netapps with incremental forever (in addition to NDMP for desaster recovery soon). We split our backups, but still have ~13 m Files per share. For performance: check your TSM Client for physical memory (512mb is way too low, spend $$$$/€€€€ on Netapps and cents for backups...) check if mandatory virus scan is active during backup (huge effect) if mandatory scan is active, does it run on the same machine? for using externel virus scan: use multiple scanners in round-robin for performance (gives you at least a little performance boost) try not to use memoryefficient backup We run TSM Client on a W2K DL360 with 2GB ram, 3 TSM clients with a typical throughput: 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4952I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects inspected: 13.200.103(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4954I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects backed up: 45.001(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4958I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects updated: 8(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4960I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects rebound: 0(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4957I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects deleted: 0(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4970I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects expired: 17.958(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4959I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of objects failed: 12(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4961I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Total number of bytes transferred: 37,02 GB(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4963I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Data transfer time: 3.231,91 sec(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4966I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Network data transfer rate: 12.012,74 KB/sec(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4967I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Aggregate data transfer rate: 703,85 KB/sec(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4968I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Objects compressed by: 0%%(SESSION: 100425) 07/29/2005 11:19:29 ANE4964I (Session: 100425, Node: xxx) Elapsed processing time: 15:19:19(SESSION: 100425) Currently running an oldish TSM Server 5.2.4.5 on 3466-C01 4GB ram. regards, Markus Engelhard -- Diese E-Mail enthält vertrauliche und/oder rechtlich geschützte Informationen.
