Hi,

You can set a maxsize on the diskpool to have this data spread around
multiple stg pools (using it). Another option is to have multiple backup
copy groups pointing to multiple storage pools for this client (have
been doing this). Furhter more, you can define multiple nodes per ba
client having these nodes all backing up part of the ba client.

But, it would be nice to get multiple streams based on something else
(hardware?) then node data for these processes.

Regards,

Karel

To explain further.

If "a single node" has backed up 700GB it looks to me like it is
impossible to force multiple processes to an offsite pool unless somehow
part of the data is on tape and part on disk. If that data is
exclusively one either one it looks like we're forced with a single
process writing to the copy pool going offsite.

If I'm wrong, and I have been before, I hope someone can explain how to
force it if possible.

Geoff,

Which specific process are you referring to? I'm assuming you arent
talking about backup stg, which has had a multi-process option forever.

One of the issues I have had with TSM is the inability for it to run
multiple processes from a single disk storage pool to a pool designated
to go offsite. With 5.3 out I was wondering if that has changed, haven't
seen anything yet to think not but maybe I missed it, or if we're still
stuck with this. Sending 1.5TB of data offsite each day, when it was
smaller was fine, using a single thread now doesn't work well.

If it is the case does anyone know if IBM has plans to implement that
anytime soon?

Thanks,
