To satisfy our Novell client ( They know that such "fuzzy" backups may or may not restore properly) I am going to set up the Management Class for (Shrdynamic) as its copy serialization. They would like to at least try this.
If we have a Management Class already set up could I just edit the dsm.opt file of the Novell servers and enter the following include GW:/.../*.db SPECIAL<<<<name of Mgmt class Mgmt Class Name SPECIAL Default Mgmt Class ? No Description Mgmt Class for open Files PRODUCTION PRODUCTION SPECIAL STANDARD Policy Domain Name PRODUCTION Policy Set Name PRODUCTION Mgmt Class Name SPECIAL Copy Group Name STANDARD Versions Data Exists 14 Versions Data Deleted 7 Retain Extra Versions 90 Retain Only Version 365 Copy Mode MODIFIED Copy Serialization SHRDYNAMIC Copy Frequency 1 Copy Destination BACKUPPOOL Table of Contents (TOC) Destination - Last Update Date/Time 2006-09-08 13:14:22.000000 Last Update by (administrator) $$CONFIG_MANAGER$$ Managing profile DEFAULT_PROFILE If I can do this would I still have to validate and activate the modified policyset? From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager on behalf of Timothy Hughes Hi Mark...Thanks If I changed the Dynamic option in the backup copygroup in that management class that would effect ALL backups correct? Is there a way to just make these 3 particular Novell servers do dynamic backup? You would need to create a management class within the policy domain that the NetWare server resides in; that mgmt class would use DYNAMIC (or SHRDYNAMIC) as its copy serialization. (Don't forget to validate and activate the modified policyset.) You would then need to use INCLUDE statements in the client option file to point the new mgmt class at the GroupWise files. Something like: include GW:/.../*.db NEWMGMTCLASS -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Senior consultant
