Timothy,
The URL works. It apparently got reformatted so that the URL was broken up
onto two lines, and I suspect when you clicked on it, it just picked up the
first line. You need the rest of it as well.

Andy Thanks for your reply also, I got the restore to work by doing
the following
I changed the name in the dsm.opt file back to the OLD name ( bolton01)
before it was rebuilt.
Then did a dsmc so it would except it as that name and then I did the
restore. Although I realize i have to get use to using the
-Virtualnodename procedure working at some point because that will be
needed at some point. I think I just got lucky this time because the
data was just being restored to the Same Server that the data was backed
up on but under a different directory location.
>>> bolton01> restore "/opt/iplanet/iws61" "/data/opt/iplanet/ws61"
I have since changed the nodename in the dsm.sys back to>>>bolton0s10
and did a dsmc for it to accept.
I believe the link you sent was moved this what I got when clicked on it.

(I recommend this be bookmarked for future reference.)
You can select the TSM version you use, then enter "virtualnodename" in
the
search box in the upper left corner for help with the syntax.

Don't use the GUI for major restorals - performance suffers.
Use -Virtualnodename for CLI-based cross-nodename operations, as

Thanks Richard! I found the option in the Unix/Linux manual I am
assuming it the same procedure in Solaris?

I am assuming it will prompt for ID password before restore
Solaris is Unix - common procedure.
You can let it prompt, or more readily enter -PASsword=______ on
the command line.
Remember that you can "practice" first via a 'dsmc query backup'
using those options to verify locating the source files in TSM.
That's always healthy, before proceeding with restore invocation.
Richard
I placed the - virtualnodename bolton01 in the options file.
However
when I go to the command line and type in dsmc I get that's not valid
