I believe GPFS is recommended over SANergy from IBM for this type of thing
nowadays. At least that's what they were pushing at the last symposium

Subject
[ADSM-L] SANErgy AIX question

Hello,

Does anyone have expirence with Tivoli SANErgy filesharing?
I would like to use it for TSM FILE deviceclasses.

The SANErgy MDC would be an AIX 6.1 (the TSM server), another AIX 6.1
would be the client. I set up the NFS server on MDC, the LUN (on which
the NFS-exported filesystem resides) can be seen on the client too, the
owner is set on the MDC and can be seen on the client correctly.

NFS mount is OK from the client, the problem is, when I fuse the volume,
it is succesful, but the files can't be read or written. The file entry
creates succesfully (0 byte long).
I think, fs/NFS permissions are OK, because these operations work
without SANErgy fusing.

mount on the client:
(...)
tsmsrv /sanfs /sanfs nfs3 Dec 30 15:43
bg,intr,noac,rw

# /usr/SANergy/SANergyconfig ver
sanergyfsf_3.3.6.0 Thu Jan 15 19:55:47 EST 2009

# /usr/SANergy/SANergyconfig owner
0 rhdisk1 NO INFO
1 sanfs rhdisk2 NO INFO tsmsrv

# /usr/SANergy/SANergyconfig fuse /sanfs
Success
# /usr/SANergy/SANergyconfig fuse
OK|/sanfs,tsmsrv,/sanfs
# echo "-----------------------" > /sanfs/aaa
There is an input or output error.
ksh: /sanfs/aaa: 0403-005 Cannot create the specified file.
# ls -l /sanfs/aaa
-rw-r--r-- 1 nobody system 0 Jan 03 21:20 /sanfs/aaa
# cat /sanfs/test
cat: 0652-050 Cannot open /sanfs/test.

The same issue with SANErgy perf tool.

The documentations are a bit old (A Practical Guide to Tivoli SANErgy
was written in 2001, the Admin Guide (for v3.2) in 2002...), some
commands do not exist in the documented format...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Robert
