We upgraded to server 6.2.3.1 in January, and database backup times got a lot worse; half-hour DB backups increased to a minimum of 40 minutes, with one in four taking 3-4 hours or more. When we upgraded, we took the default REORGBEGINTIME 6, REORGDURATION 24. We subsequently reduced the REORGDURATION, and made certain that database backups only take place outside the reorg window. We have completed only five database backups since then; one of the five still took over three hours. I'm still monitoring and hoping for the best. - Margaret Clark

We are experiencing slow TSM DB backup process on both of our TSM systems using AIX V6.1.7.x, TSM V6.2.3.100, Atape v12.4.1.0. The issues began immediately after we upgraded from AIX v5.3.12.3 to AIX v6.1.7.x. We have created a performance PMR#53387,379,000 with TSM support. With 100GB data in a DB2 database, we are seeing 30 to 60sec waits between .1/.2GB database transfers to IBM LTO4 tape drives via TSM q se screen. It is taking a very long time to complete a TSM DB backup. Before the AIX upgrade, the full DB backup took about 10 minutes; now we are seeing backups of hours in length. Anybody having these types of issues??
