Exactly.  It separates the DB backup problem from the many large files
backup problem

You're out of my competency here; I think the "does it dedupe" question
is deeply related to what you've got in your sharepoint.

The export-blobs sharepoint action is a matter of sharepoint wizardry,
not backup wizardry, and I got no props there. :)

That said, I would _expect_ that you'd just need a CIFS share that the
SP server (or whatever server you're running the export subsystem) could
access.  At that point you've got a conventional filesystem-backup
problem.  If you've got 20M files, that's still a big problem, but at
least you've separated the conjoined twins.
