Hi Jeanne,

I do not know specific root cause, but in several reported cases, the
following approach has been known to resolve the issue:

Reboot, and see if that clears the issue.

If that does not clear the issue, run fsck against the file system and see
if that clears the issue.

If that still does not clear things up, please open a PMR so we can get
better attention on it. If you go that route, I suggest collecting a client
SERVICE trace in advance, so you have it available for support:

1. Add these options to the dsm.opt file:

   TRACEFLAGS SERVICE
   TRACEFILE tracefilename

where tracefilename is the name of the file where the trace data is
written, e.g., /bigfs/tsmtrace.out

As my example trace file name implies, make sure you direct the trace file
to a file system with plenty of room for the trace data.

2. Restart the scheduler. Presumably the problem will occur at the next
scheduled backup.

3. After the problem occurs, collect these items and make them available to
support:

   the trace file
   dsmerror.log
   dsmsched.log

Regards,

- Andy
