Hello Robert, The key with the real-time compression on v7000 is to buy the compression add-in card that IBM supplies. That offloads all compression workloads from the primary CPU/RAM on the v7000 controllers and makes a big difference in IO throughput.
That said, TSM databases tend to be pretty IO intensive. In our organization, the TSM database luns are the busiest in the company by a fair margin. Unless you're really strapped for cash, I'd say you're better off to buy the capacity and not compress the TSM DB. Even some IO degradation could make a big impact to your daily operations. Hope that helps, __________________________ Matthew McGeary Technical Specialist - Infrastructure PotashCorp T: (306) 933-8921 www.potashcorp.com From: Robert Ouzen <rou...@univ.haifa.ac.il> To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Date: 07/24/2015 01:13 AM Subject: [ADSM-L] RTC on DB SSD disks Sent by: "ADSM: Dist Stor Manager" <ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU> Hello all We are in process installing a new Storage V7000 from IBM in our organization.
