You are correct- as of version 0.8.14, the SDK is no longer included with Android Studio. More information on why this change was made is available in the 0.8.14 release notes <http://tools.android.com/recent/androidstudio0814inbetachannel>.
You can download the SDK from the Android SDK page <https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html?hl=i> of the developer's site. Click "Get the SDK for an Existing IDE" to find the link to download the standalone SDK.
