Hi,
I was looking at this link:http://tools.android.com/build for info
related to Android Gradleplugin. I see the releases are out on two
branches & tags: Gradle gradle_x.y.z Studio studio_x.y.z
More info is here:
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest/+refs as mentioned
on that page as well.
I had two questions regarding the same:
- Whats the difference between the gradle plugins that are on
these two branches ? Is the studio branch of the gradle plugin for
enabling the builds from Android Studio as opposed to the Gradle
branch which may be used for CLI gradle builds ?
Or are the developers impacted in any way during development in
Android Studio in the sense that their IDE might not able to resolve
some dependencies in some way.
IMHO, I *don't think so* . I think Android Studio is using the
same plugin as command line build. But some clarification might help.
- Also when do I choose a specific tag ? I understand separate
branches for gradle_x.y.z release. But I was wanting to check on a
use-case for using tags for the same (I understand tagging in general.
My question was specific to these gradle plugins since you are
branching per release anyways)
Any input appreciated !
Regards
amit
