>From the solution explorer, right click on the project name, select "Add", then 'Add Existing Item', browse to the file to include in the project, select it (single click), press the little down arrow on the right side of the "open" button, then choose "Link File". This will include the specified source file in your project build w/o copying it to the project directory. Obscure, but it works...
