Hi All,
Sorry for the sorta off-topic post, but I would love to hear/get input on
how people develop their .NET apps with VPC.

Currently I'm developing on/against multiple workstations/servers (with
different OSs) and I want to get away from that, and am planning on moving
to a VPC environment.

My biggest concern is a backup strategy. Currently the workstations back up
to a single location. I'm concerned how this will be affected with VPC.

For example, I'm planning on having XP Pro installed as the main OS, and
then have Win2K Server installed as a VPC image. In that image I'll have Sql
+ Vault, and VS.NET installed to do my development.

My goal is to keep my main OS as clean as possible, and do all of my
developing in VPC, along with all testing and installing test programs.

How do you back up your stuff in VPC (i.e. VS.NET projects, along with Sql
Server DBs)?

I'd like to do nightly backups. How do I do that? Yes, I can back up the
actual VPC image, but
 1) why should I back up 4-8gigs of an image, if all I need to back up is
100-200megs found inside of it?

2) What happens if my VPC image gets corrupt, and I can't access the data
in it?

I'd love to hear any and all input from you VPC users out there. How do you
develop and perform backups? I'm sure there has to be some whitepapers out
there for best practices. Does anyone have any links?

Thanks,
Dave
