At a previous job our devteam (about 15 people) used VSS 6.0. It worked ok
for years (minor glitches, minor headaches but no code loss) but they
decided to replace it with PVCS. About a year later we went back to VSS
because PCVS was not satisfactory for us. We had clients hanging, backend
crashes and some code loss. At my current company we are using VSS again
but we will be switching to SourceGear's Vault (
http://www.sourcegear.com/vault/index.html) soon. I've been hearing from
other people how easy it is to migrate from VSS to Vault and how reliable
and easy it is to use. I haven't had any experience with it yet but from
what I've been hearing from other people I can recommend SouorceGear's
Vault.
