I thought the point of Mono was that you didn't have to port applications. No? In my opinion, Mono would be tremendously valuable if it allowed any .NET application to run on it. I grant you that's a hugely difficult task for parts like Winforms, but that seems to me where the value lies. (Last time I looked Winforms support wasn't available in Mono, but that was a very long time ago.) Having it as another platform that you need to port to just makes it too easy for folks to ignore.
