Wel, skip the process bit. I figured out that even if the process name is changed it still opens using an open excel instance because I renamed excel.exe to foobar.exe, opened it and then opened a xls with explorer and it opened in foobar.exe!
Then I had a look at the explorer file associations and I saw that explorer tries to used DDE link to excel first before opening with excel... Interiesting, I never knew about this feature. Well obviously disabling it solved the problem. But still I would like to know if it is possible to have a standalone VBE.... -----Original Message----- From: Discussion of advanced .NET topics. I have a vb.net app that encapsulates an EXCEL application object that I only use to host an instance of the VBE. Which I basically use to create VBA applications. The problems is that if I open an XLS file from the explorer then it opens up in my encapsulated EXCEL instance. So I figure that if I change the name of the process then maybe I can prevent this kind of event... Alternatively, is it possible to get a standalone instace of the VBE? =================================== This list is hosted by DevelopMentor. http://www.develop.com View archives and manage your subscription(s) at http://discuss.develop.com =================================== This list is hosted by DevelopMentorĀ® http://www.develop.com View archives and manage your subscription(s) at http://discuss.develop.com
