Sébastien,

I had the same problem. I spent some time digging around and finally found the
answer. You can read my blog entry here:
http://www.mvwood.com/blogs/blog/archive/2006/07/10/CantRemoveSnippets.aspx

OR to cut to the chase they are probably stored at <C:\Documents and
Settings\user\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\1033\ExpansionsXML.xml>

Seems snippet information is stored in three different locations. Go figure.

Hello all,

I have an annoying problem in VS2005: I moved my custom code snippets around
and now, whenever I use them in the editor, I get a dropdown list asking me
which location to choose. Of course, there is no way to know what is the
actual location of each choice in the list except by trial and error (seems
to be always the last one in the list).

I looked in the code snippet manager, searched the registry, deleted all
temporary folders, examined a couple of obvious places on the disk, but I
cannot find where VS2005 is storing these phantom locations... Also looked
on Google, but no luck or my search-fu is not good enough.

So any idea on how to get rid of those dead locations ??

Thanks a lot!

Sébastien
